April 11, 2011 – Guess that Phlag!!
Come out and play an interactive guessing game of
the Latin American flags by naming which country it comes from. Winners will
receive a free prizes, so if you think you got what it takes come out and learn
some geographical knowledge.

April 12, 2011 – José Martí Poetry Slam
The Brothers of Phi Iota Alpha proudly reintroduce
its José Martí Poetry Slam Scholarship that will be unlike anything you’ve seen
before! A special presentation of Don José Martí will be given by Dr. Tonya
Weimer before the 10 contestant spoken word blow-out on the open MIC. The top 3
poets from the first round will throw down one last time to determine who will
win the grand prize of $250 dollars. These performances will be judged
on a numeric scale by three professors from Texas State University.

April 13, 2011 – "South of the Border” an Oliver
The Distinguished Brothers of Phi Iota Alpha invite all of TSU to a free
screening of the controversial Oliver Stone film: South of The Border!!
SYNOPSIS: There’s a revolution underway in South America, but most of the world
doesn’t know it. Oliver Stone sets out on a road trip across five countries to
explore the social and political mo...vements as well as the mainstream media’s misconception
of South America while interviewing seven of its elected presidents. In casual
conversations with Presidents Hugo Chávez (Venezuela), Evo Morales (Bolivia),
Lula da Silva (Brazil), Cristina Kirchner (Argentina), as well as her husband
and ex-President Nėstor Kirchner, Fernando Lugo (Paraguay), Rafael Correa
(Ecuador), and Raúl Castro (Cuba), Stone gains unprecedented access and sheds
new light upon the exciting transformations in the region.
There will also be some time to reflect on the film
and discussion will be lead by Dr. Paul Hart of the History Dept.

April 14, 2011 – Bus to"Night in Old San Antonio”
with Phiotas on the banks of the San Antonio River in the heart of downtown San
Antonio for college night in NIOSA. Tickets are
22 bucks BUT covers BOTH the bus ride and the actual ticket to get into NIOSA,
which is $12 at the door. RSVP ASAP because these tickets are first come first
