Phi Iota Alpha Responds to Humanitarian Crisis

New York, New York - July 3, 2014

Phi Iota Alpha firmly believes that the humanitarian crisis on the U.S. – Mexico border cuts across political lines impacting all communities across the United States, and while an important dialogue has been initiated in Washington, D.C. the daily situation on the U.S. – Mexico border is one which requires immediate attention.

To this end, Phi Iota Alpha is expanding upon the current volunteer efforts between the Phi Iota Alpha colony at the University of Texas – Pan American, local alumni, the Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley and the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley.

The expansion of these efforts in the Rio Grande Valley area includes:
  • Organizing volunteer opportunities for members of the Fraternity
  • Donation drives to provide much needed supplies
  • Fundraisers to provide economic support of the ongoing volunteer efforts

In addition, the Fraternity is working to identify other high impact volunteer opportunities across the country with a focus on areas such as California, New Mexico, New York and Texas. A donation fund has been setup for those interested in helping with the relief efforts.

If you are interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities please contact us at relief@phiota.org.
