Phi Iota Alpha returns home to Louisiana State University, the Birthplace of the Latino Fraternal Movement

Baton Rouge, Louisiana May 2010

After a 35 year absence Phi Iota Alpha returns home to it's ancestral Alpha Chapter, Louisiana State University. LSU was the birthplace of of Sigma Iota, the first Latino fraternity. In 1931 Sigma Iota merged with Phi Lambda Alpha to form Phi Iota Alpha.

"This is a dream come true for all the brothers of Phi Iota Alpha," says Executive Director Jason Nicolau. " From the establishment of la Sociedad Hispano-Americana in 1904, to the creation of Sigma Iota in 1912, to the merger in 1931 to become Phi Iota Alpha we have had a continual presence at LSU for 72 years. It's absolutely wonderful to continue that legacy."

La Revelacion pictured right at the monument dedicating the establishment SIgma Iota, crossed into the realm of Phi Iota Alpha on May 2nd 2010.

Phi Iota Alpha would like to extend it's appreciation to the Greek Life office and the Office of Multicultural Affairs at Louisiana State University for all their assistance in our re-establishment efforts.

With recent large population influx of Latino & Hispanic individuals Phi Iota Alpha will once again be there to serve the needs of the community in the state of Louisiana.
