Phiota Executive Director wins 2 NALFO Awards

Atlanta, Georgia - April 2011

Phi Iota Alpha Executive Director Francisco "Pancho" Lugo won two prestigious NALFO awards at their at the annual business meeting and gala in Atlanta, Georgia. Francisco won Organizational Leadership Excellence of the Year and Professional of the Year

Francisco holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Communication and a Master of Science in Education in College Student Personnel from the University of Dayton. Francisco currently works as Assistant Director of Student Activities for Student Programs at the University of Texas at San Antonio. 

NALFO award winners are selected by an independent committee of Greek advisors from prestigious universities throughout the country scored organizations on the basis of Academic Achievement, Community Service, Organizational Integrity and Commitment to the Latino Greek Community.

The Organizational Leadership Excellence of the year prize is awarded in recognition of an alumnus/alumnae who has demonstrated their commitment to their organization and the Latino Greek Community through their service in leadership positions in their organization or the Latino Greek Community as a whole.

The Professional of the Year prize is awarded in recognition of established professionals or entrepreneurs who embody the standards of the Latino Greek Community through their professional accomplishments and community involvement.

The National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations, Inc. (NALFO) was established in 1998 to promote the advancement of Latino/a fraternities and sororities. Today NALFO networks with 19 member Latino/a fraternities and sororities that are bound by a shared commitment to fraternal unity and the values that Latino/a fraternal life entails. 
    
The purpose of NALFO is to promote and foster positive interfraternal relations, communication, and development of all Latino/a Fraternal organizations through mutual respect, leadership, honesty, professionalism and education.

Since 1931, Phi Iota Alpha has set precedents for Latino Greek leadership in the global community. For over 79 years, Phi Iota Alpha has cultivated and inspired Latino men nationwide to become leaders of their communities across Latin America and the United States. Open to all men, this distinguished brotherhood includes many professionals and former presidents of Latin American countries. Today Phi Iota Alpha, the Oldest Latino Fraternity in existence, continues to lead as the preeminent Latino fraternal organization with chapters throughout the United States.
