Phi Iota Alpha wins NALFO's
National Philanthropic Organization of the Year Award

Atlanta, Georgia - April 2011

Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity, Inc. won the prestigious NALFO National Philanthropic Organization of the year award at NALFO's annual business meeting and gala in Atlanta, Georgia.

NALFO award winners are selected by an independent committee of Greek advisors from prestigious universities throughout the country scored organizations on the basis of Academic Achievement, Community Service, Organizational Integrity and Commitment to the Latino Greek Community.

The philanthropy award is the culmination of a year’s worth of strategic initiatives designed to improve the fraternity’s charitable efforts. These included providing better service to its national philanthropic partner UNICEF. By making more of an impact within the communities UNICEF serves, encouraging alumni involvement, and reinforcing the fraternity’s culture of charity & community service amongst its members. Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity, Inc. thanks NALFO for recognizing these great strides.

The NALFO National Philanthropic Organization of the Year is awarded in recognition of an organization that has demonstrated excellence in:
  • Promoting of Community Service and philanthropic endeavors at the National Level

The National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations, Inc. (NALFO) was established in 1998 to promote the advancement of Latino/a fraternities and sororities. Today NALFO networks with 19 member Latino/a fraternities and sororities that are bound by a shared commitment to fraternal unity and the values that Latino/a fraternal life entails. 
    
The purpose of NALFO is to promote and foster positive interfraternal relations, communication, and development of all Latino/a Fraternal organizations through mutual respect, leadership, honesty, professionalism and education.

Since 1931, Phi Iota Alpha has set precedents for Latino Greek leadership in the global community. For over 79 years, Phi Iota Alpha has cultivated and inspired Latino men nationwide to become leaders of their communities across Latin America and the United States. Open to all men, this distinguished brotherhood includes many professionals and former presidents of Latin American countries. Today Phi Iota Alpha, the Oldest Latino Fraternity in existence, continues to lead as the preeminent Latino fraternal organization with chapters throughout the United States.
