Phiota wins NALFO's Rising Professional of the Year Award

Phi Iota Alpha brother Raul "Canino" Fernandez has won NALFO's prestigious Rising Professional of the Year award at their at the annual business meeting and gala in Austin, Texas.
Raul joined Phi Iota Alpha in 1996 as one of the founders of the Nu chapter of Phi Iota Alpha at Boston University. He is a graduate of the prestigious Bronx High School of Science. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Communications from Boston University, as well as a Masters in Communication from Barry University. Currently he is working on his PhD. at Boston University. 
Raul currently serves as the Associate Director of Student Activities at Boston University. Prior he was the Assistant Director of the Howard Thurman Center at Boston University.  

NALFO award winners are selected by an independent committee of Greek advisors from prestigious universities throughout the country scored organizations on the basis of Academic Achievement, Community Service, Organizational Integrity and Commitment to the Latino Greek Community. 
The Rising Professional of the Year prize is awarded in recognition of established professionals or entrepreneurs who embody the standards of the Latino Greek Community through their professional accomplishments and community involvement.


The National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations, Inc. (NALFO) was established in 1998 to promote the advancement of Latino/a fraternities and sororities. Today NALFO networks with 20 member Latino/a fraternities and sororities that are bound by a shared commitment to fraternal unity and the values that Latino/a fraternal life entails. 
The purpose of NALFO is to promote and foster positive interfraternal relations, communication, and development of all Latino/a Fraternal organizations through mutual respect, leadership, honesty, professionalism and education. 
Since 1931, Phi Iota Alpha has set precedents for Latino Greek leadership in the global community.  For over 80 years, Phi Iota Alpha has cultivated and inspired Latino men nationwide to become leaders of their communities across Latin America and the United States.  Open to all men, this distinguished brotherhood includes many professionals and former presidents of Latin American countries. Today Phi Iota Alpha, the Oldest Latino Fraternity in existence, continues to lead as the preeminent Latino fraternal organization with chapters throughout the United States.
