Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity, Inc. is a proud supporter of UNICEF USA
New York - April 2012
Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity, Inc. is a proud supporter of UNICEF USA initiatives such as Trick or Treat for UNICEF and the UNICEF Tap Project which work towards seeing a day where no children are lost to preventable causes. In keeping with our commitment to this initiative we would like to announce the next step in our relationship with UNICEF USA.
UNICEF USA and Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity, Inc. have developed a dedicated Latin American fund where members and supporters of Phi Iota Alpha can donate directly to UNICEF's efforts in Latin America and the Caribbean region. The fund, which can be accessed by visiting www.unicefusa.org/phiota will collect funds that directly impact efforts in UNICEF's Latin American and Caribbean Region.
With the development of the dedicated Latin American fund Phi Iota Alpha now has a full menu of philanthropic activities that reaches out the Latin American and larger international community. Phi Iota Alpha's fundraising efforts will now consist of:
- Trick or Treat for UNICEF in the Fall semester
- The Tap Project in the Spring Semester
- Latin American and Caribbean region fundraising year round
"We are proud of our growing partnership with UNICEF. Our chapters have benefited from the domestic fundraising activities such as trick or treat and The Tap project. We believe the Latin American fund will provide an additional opportunity for our membership to assist in the development of Latin America.” said Francisco Lugo, Executive Director of Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
The Fraternity appreciates the strong and growing partnership with UNICEF USA and hopes with our combined efforts we will be able to see a day when no children are lost to preventable causes.

UNICEF has saved more children's lives than any other humanitarian organization in the world. Working in more than 150 countries, UNICEF provides children with health care, clean water, nutrition, education, emergency relief, and more. The U.S. Fund for UNICEF supports UNICEF's work through fundraising, advocacy, and education in the United States.
UNICEF is at the forefront of efforts to reduce child mortality worldwide. There has been substantial progress: the annual number of under-five deaths dropped from 13 million in 1990 to 8.8 million in 2008. But still, 22,000 children die each day from preventable causes. Our mission is to do whatever it takes to make that number zero by giving children the essentials for a safe and healthy childhood. For more information, visit www.unicefusa.org.
